TrellisWare Technologies, Inc. is developing advanced communication systems for use in various military and commercial applications. 

Job FunctionThe purpose for the Manufacturing Test Engineer is to design, produce and deploy test systems (Fixtures and Software) at TrellisWare Technologies, Inc. as well as for and with TrellisWare Technologies, Inc.'s EMS/CM partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible and accountable for the preparation of production test plans for all products.
  • Defines the scope of tests within the context of each production line, obtaining targeted test coverage based on product quality requirements including automation where required.
  • Obtains targeted test coverage based on product quality requirements including automation where required.
  • Designs, documents, implements and maintains test processes (functional test, unit performance test, software installation and burn-in) and systems to achieve consistently high product quality at high throughput rates for new and existing products.
  • Performs installation qualification (IQ), operational qualification (OQ) and performance qualification (PQ) to include calibration and maintenance requirements of all software and hardware related to production test.
  • Actively engages EMS/CEM manufacturing, quality and engineering teams to define and document the test requirements and test methodologies, both for qualification and production purposes.
  • Actively solicits feedback from relevant EMS/CEMS to improve test processes and systems for new and existing production.
  • Actively participates in design reviews with development and manufacturing engineers to influence design decisions for testability, reliability, repeatability, quality and production throughput targets. 
  • Selects and integrates test instruments for test stations.
  • Programs tests in C/C++ embedded within the radio firmware.
  • Develops manufacturing process flow diagrams, process FMECAs, process characterizations and process/product validation protocols/reports.
  • Conducts research and development of potential production technologies that could be applied in the product line to improve throughput, quality or costs.
  • Implements, evolves and reports appropriate KPI measurements and metrics.

  • Manages and grows testing assets required in meeting company goals as they relate to:
    • Team members
    • Testing tools
    • Testing processes
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    • Willing to travel about 25% of the time.

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent field of study.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience developing test tools & processes in a low to medium volume high tech electronics production test environment.

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:

  • Ability to program tests in C/C++ embedded within the radio firmware and create/maintain Python test scripts.
  • Ability to generate a test plan from engineering designs and subsequently develop and support a system of software test code for units under test including the development of a test database.
  • Solid experience developing test scripts using Python programming tools or similar software tools used to develop test scripts for units under test.
  • Experience with hardware design and test fixture development using bed of nails is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of interconnection issues between the device under test and test instruments a plus.
  • Proven troubleshooting/debug and problem solving skills.
  • Experience developing embedded software using C/C++ on a Linux platform is a plus.
  • Exposure to wireless networked products is a plus.
  • Works independently, demonstrates initiative and interacts with a variety of engineering development teams.
  • Demonstrates strong documentation skills and proficient with PC office applications.
  • Demonstrates analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
