TrellisWare Technologies, Inc. is developing advanced communication systems for use in various military and commercial applications.  


Job Function: TrellisWare is looking for a resourceful Director of Business Development experienced in international markets to lead its Product sales efforts. This role will be responsible for driving the sales and capture strategy for the company in line with TrellisWare's strategic and marketing goals. Being able to maintain very good visibility into the sales process and qualifying/prioritizing sales opportunities will be key to success for this role. Responsibilities will include validating customers' funding, identifying contract vehicles, understanding buying trends within different customer segments and providing useful market information back to TrellisWare to determine market expansions/contractions and new product introductions.

In addition to the sales and marketing responsibilities above, the Business Development Director will be responsible for the growth of the business development organization to expand and capture new customer segments, and day-to-day management of that team. This also includes directing and supporting international resellers and agents.


Essential Attributes and Skillset:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • International sales experience, marketing analysis, PR experience a plus
  • Strong documentation skills and proficient with PC office applications
  • Background and understanding in high-tech communications technology preferred
  • Extensive successful track record in both sales & management of a sales team in markets with long sales cycles (6-12 months)
  • Great, proactive communication skills, internal: up & down the organization, and external: to customers & partners
  • Experience with international defense sales, knowledge & track record of working procurement processes throughout the world
  • Ability to build, mentor, inspire, track & drive sales team to meet corporate goals; including establishment, control and execution of sales & reseller processes/control
  • Understanding and appreciation of corporate performance with ability to tie into product/package pricing & sales tactics and implementations
  • Ability to form product sales strategies, optimize sales channels, and qualify/prioritize opportunities accordingly
  • Creation and management of accurate sales forecasts
  • Positive team player, wired to be collaborative & accountable
  • Independent, hands-on, interactive, driven to success
  • Demonstrated high level partner/customer negotiation skills
  • Good at building long-term customer relationships & effectively accommodating their demands while putting corporate interests first
  • Willing and able to travel > 50% of time
  • Self-motivated, flexible & resourceful to meet the needs of a fast-paced growing small company; bootstrap mentality
  • Familiarity with different government funding agencies, government contracting and prime contractors
  • Track record in identifying funding opportunities


Education and Work Experience:
  • At least ten (10) years of related successful sales leadership experience in the defense sector. Additional commercial experience is a plus.
  • Hands-on direct sales experience prior to management preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
